Discover the Spirit of the Navajo People

From the moment you arrive in the Southwest you know you are in "The Land of Enchantment." You can step back in time and see how the ancient ones - the Anasazi people - lived thousands of years ago. It is a place where traditional Navajo is spoken and many towns and communities portray a unique blend of old-town character and modern-day society. A journey throughout the Navajo Nation quickly reveals both the land and the people possess beauty and strength. The Navajo Nation is home to approximately 250,000 Navajo people spread across New Mexico, Arizona, Utah and Colorado.

But there is also an acute need for renewal. As a culture in transition, the Navajo people and their traditional lifestyle is under the substantial stress brought about by rapid change in their society. Since the early 1970's, drought has been prevalent, many communities lack necessary resources, there is a high rate of unemployment and few opportunities available to the Navajo youth.

In 2001, World Servants teams began working with Pete Belon of Cornerstone Ministries and several Navajo churches to provide facilities such as community centers and tutoring halls for the Navajo youth. World Servants has mobilized more than 900 people, armed with building supplies and most importantly the love of Christ, to work alongside the Navajo people. Groups have constructed playgrounds, basketball courts and baseball fields. During your trip you will meet both the physical and spiritual needs of the Navajo community, one reason a World Servants experience is more than just a mission trip.

Every time teams go to the Navajo Nation we are told World Servants is highly regarded because we continue to bring teams to serve and we follow through with our promises. Our willingness to come alongside the Navajo Nation to meet their needs has given them hope and dignity to their entire community.

When you are introduced to the thrill of serving others, to the power of being the hands and feet of Jesus, you will see your life in a way you've never seen it before. The whole trip experience is one you will never forget! For more information call 800-881-2170, send email to Kym Johnson or click on the dates below:
