300 FAMILIES in a World Servants Community
are STARVING...
For only $75 you can FEED A FAMILY OF SEVEN
for four months!
Famine has hit many areas of Kenya, more specifically we are concerned about the small community of Kali. Kali missed their Autumn rains. Dependent on the trading and bartering of the goods they harvest to live, this weather anomaly has deeply affected their ability to grow the necessary crops that 300 families depend on to survive. To miss an entire season's harvest is devastating.
The Spring rains are expected to come in March and April, which means crops planted then should produce a harvest in May. However, the Kali community cries out for help between now and then. The lack of rain now means malnutrition and starvation will be a problem for the next several months. Of the many relief organizations in our world, World Servants is the only organization working in Kali. There is no one else that the people can go to for help. Donations from people like you are their only hope.
Partnering with Pastor Nicholas Kisua and Ben Kikuvi, World Servants has worked in this small community for over five years now. In 2008, World Servants teams finished building dormitories at Suvia Children's Home. Thankfully, the orphanage is provided for through sponsorships from World Servants participants. But the surrounding community needs our help.
With Pastor Nicholas' and Ben's leadership, for only $75, the average family of seven can be fed for four months, which will provide for them as they await the next harvest. Because the famine is already happening, time is of the essence. You can make a difference through a simple act of compassion by making a special offering to the Kali community. A one-time donation would be the answer to many prayers and greatly appreciated! You can contribute in one of two ways:
- You may send a check made payable to World Servants (see address below) and write 'Kali Famine Relief' in the memo area.
- Or, you may give online . . . click here to donate using a credit card.
On behalf of the families in Kali Market, we say "Asante Sana" - thank you very much - for your support and prayers.
