Kentucky - Here We Come!

Wheelwright and Weeksbury watch out... World Servants is coming back to town! For five years, World Servants mission teams had worked within these two Kentucky communities helping dozens of families. Some of the projects our teams assisted with still continue to benefit the towns today. Recently, the World Servants Appalachia Office was approached about returning to Wheelwright and Weeksbury to again partner with these communities and serve as a resource to help encourage families affected by the economic issues plaguing the country.

During two separate weeks next summer, teams will be headed to the green, green grass of Kentucky. The volunteers will be assisting with community revitalization projects, helping individual families with home repairs and sharing the love of Christ through outreach events for children, youth and families in the area.

Kentucky is part of the Cumberland Plateau of the Appalachian Mountain Range. It has a rich cultural heritage beginning with the mound-building Adena Indians, believed to have been the first inhabitants, through the civil war, to the coal camps that sprang up and faded as fast as the coal could be mined. The region has now become a center for art and music through the Mountain Arts Center. This area has many aspects of beauty from its lush wooded mountains to its colorful inhabitants that call this their home. Please join us in putting smiles on people's faces, fixing leaky roofs, painting homes, and sharing joy that comes from serving.
