Tips for filling in PDF forms on screen...

First, it always helps to have a current version of Adobe Reader. See below to check if you can upgrade to a more current version.

There are two ways you can work with your forms.

1. You want to save a copy of the filled form for later use (updating, reprinting, et cetera)

2. You are not interested in saving a copy - instead, email a copy of the form to the recipient.

Save a Copy

In the Adobe Reader toolbar, there is a diskette icon in the toolbar, probably right next to the printer icon. Click that icon, and browse to a desired file location (My Documents, Desktop, wherever you decide to keep the form file.)  Give the file a name and click the Save button.

Email a Copy

This method provides a button that will email your filled in form file using Outlook Express, Outlook, Thunderbird, or another local mail reading program.

If you use Internet Mail, such as gmail, yahoo, or another browser based email system, you will instead need to use the Save a copy procedure above to first put the file to disk, and then you can attach it to a message within the Internet Mail Interface.

Otherwise, the Adobe Reader toolbar has a handy email icon, next to the diskette icon; it looks like an envelope. If you do not see it, you need to enable it as follows:

  1. Right Click anywhere in the toolbar, and choose More tools... at the bottom.
  2. Scroll down to the group of choices called File Toolbar.
  3. Click the checkbox next to the Email icon.
  4. Click OK.

Now you can directly email the form. Remember, this does not save a local copy for later reference. If that is your desire, use the Save a copy procedure above.
